Wheels
Lubricate the wheelsandbearings at leastoncea season witha light oil.Alsoif the
wheels areremoved for anyreason, l ubricatethe surface ofthe axlebolt andthe
innersurface of the wheelwith light oil.
PivotPoints
Lubricate the pivot pointsonthe bladecontrol,bladedepthcontrol l ever, t he blade
adjustment l ever, a ndcurbheightadjustment l everwith light oil at leastoncea
season.
Beating Block
Lubricate the bearingblockevery25 hoursor atleastonceaseason. S imply apply
oil at eachendof the coverplate.SeeFigure 18.

when working around the edgerblade.
Periodically i nspectthe bladefor cracks, especially ifyoustrikea foreignobject.
Replace w hennecessary. Followthe steps belowfor bladeservice.

Disconnect sparkplug bootfromsparkplug.
2.
Use two wrenches ( onewrench to preventthe hexbolt head from spinning
andtheotherto remove the flangenut)to remove the edgerblade.Refer t o
Figure 19.

Remove a nddiscard the edgerbladebut retainthe flangenut andflat
washer.
Installthe flat washer, r eplacement edgerblade, a ndflangenut removed
earlier.Use atorquewrenchto tightenthe flangenut to between37foot-
Ibs.and50foot-lbs.
NOTE: Makecertainthatthe drivebelt isseated correctlyonthe blade
spindleandthatit isridingsmoothlyonthe spindlesheaves ( seeFigure 21)
andisnot pinched betweenthem.Repeat t he first threestepsif the belt is
pinched.
