Alignment and Adjustment
Squaring Blade to Fence
The goal in setting the blade perpen-
dicular to the fence is to reduce the risk
of kickback when ripping. This adjust-
ment will also reduce splintering of the
workpiece and burning of the kerr
during ripping and crosscutting.
1. Insert rip fence, then table spacer,
then rear table, and tighten in place
with table clamp screws.

2 Position blade carriage in front of
fence and lock rip lock.
3. Place combination
square so that
short edge is against fence and table,
and long edge is against flat surface of
blade, just below blade collar. Make
sure edge of square is against blade sur-
face, not on a tooth.

4. Look to see if space between blade
and square stays same at all points.
Check different points along blade sur-
face by making quarter turns, and look-
ing for gaps each time. If space stays
same at all points, no adjustment
is
needed-go
to step 7. If space varies, go
to step 5.
