Graphic borders
GUIDE TO SUBMITTING JOBS FROM THE CLIENT
Before submitting documents to DocuPrint, review the following
quality considerations:
Graphic objects that contain borders with a repeating line pattern (for
example, in FrameMaker, a pen pattern) may print in either of the
following ways:
Missing lines or additional lines at the top or bottom of the
frame.
Using several different patterns in the same area.
You can correct missing or additional lines by stretching the frame
slightly at the location of the missing or additional lines before
converting the document into a PostScript file.
The printer driver uses a device-dependent operation to generate the
image of a border using a repeating line pattern (pen pattern) within
the graphic object. The device-dependent operation can lead to
inconsistencies in output from various printers.
Such image quality problems are especially noticeable when you are
using FrameMaker and combining drawing tools (rectangle, round
rectangle, oval, or text frames) with any of the non-solid pen patterns
from the Tools palette. If these graphic objects are copied through a
screen capture to other applications, image quality problems may
appear in the output from these applications as well.
Edge deletion
If you are using QuarkXPress software with a color driver (such as
the QMS Colorscript or TekPhaser series), there is a zone of 1-1/4
inch at the top and 1/2 inch at the bottom of the page that does not
print as a result of the driver limitation.
