To install the CPU heatsink and fan:

Place the heatsink on top of the

installed CPU, making sure that

the CPU fan screws match the

holes on the motherboard.

We recommend that you use the ASUS-certified multi-directional

heatsink and fan bundled with the system.

If you purchased a separate CPU heatsink and fan assembly, make

sure that you have properly applied Thermal Interface Material to the

CPU heatsink or CPU before you install the heatsink and fan

assembly.

B e f o r e installing the CPU fan and heatsink assembly, make sure to

remove the screws that secure the X-Pad™ to the motherboard.

(The screws help keep the X-Pad from falling off during transit.)

Orient the heatsink and fan assembly such that the CPU fan cable is

closest to the CPU_FAN1 connector.

An X-pad™ comes pre-installed under the motherboard.

If you use the push-pin heatsink and fan assembly, make sure to

remove the X-pad™ first.
