4. Tip the snow thrower back t othe operating
position and pull t he
starter handle afew times t osee ifitisdifficult topull.
5. Ifthe starter isdifficult topull, r emove the spark plug and pull t he
handle several times t oensure that a ny oil t rapped inthe engine
head i sremoved.
Oil m ay come o ut o fthe spark p lug hole w hen i tisremoved
and the
starter handle ispulled.
6. Inspect the spark plug. Ifitiswet, clean o ffany oilbefore
re-installing.
Control Cable
Asaresult ofboth the control cable a nd the auger drive b elt s tretching
due towear, periodic adjustments
may benecessary.
Ifthe auger
seems tohesitate when r otating, proceed asfollows:
The upper hole inthe control handle provides foranadjustment
in
cable t ension. To adjust, disconnect
the end ofcontrol cable f rom the
bottom hole i nthe control handle and reinsert itinthe upper hole.
Insert the cable f rom the outside asshown i nFigure 21.

AUGER
DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT
1.
Runthe snowthroweruntilthe fueltank is empty.
2.
Pullthe recoilstarterhandleuntil resistanceis felt.Thentip the
snowthrowerbackuntil it restson thehandles.
3.
Slidea boardup throughthe augerand throughthe chute to
securethe auger in place.
4.
Removethe beltcover by removingthe two hexwasherscrews
and one hexlock screwthat secureit to the frame.See Figure22.
