Chapter 6: Adding images and animation

You can add a wide variety of images and animations to your Adobe Captivate projects.

Adding images

Images can add a new dimension to Adobe Captivate projects. There are a variety of ways to incorporate images
into projects, including using them as logos, splash screens, pointers, backgrounds, buttons, and more.
You can add images in the following formats: JPG, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, ICO, EMF, POT, or WMF.
Tip:Adobe Captivate contains a gallery that has buttons, sounds, and animations (in SWF format) for you to use in
your projects. By default, the gallery is stored in the following location when you install Adobe Captivate: C:\Program
Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 3\Gallery.
To add an image:
Open an Adobe Captivate project.

In Storyboard view, double-click the slide to which you want to add an image.

Select Insert > Image.

The Open dialog box appears.

(Optional) You might be asked if you want to crop or rescale the image.
This option centers the image and crops the edges of the image that do not fit into the capture size area.
Crop
This option resizes the image to provide a good-quality resized image that fits the capture size area.
Rescale
Select an image from the list or browse to a new location for a different image. Click Open.

The New Image dialog box appears.

Set properties and options as required:
The Image tab has the following options:
This option defines the transparent quality of the image file. Select a value between 0-100% with

a low number resulting in a brighter version of the image and a higher number displaying a dimmer image.
