Check to see if
The platen is contaminated with
ink mist.
The paper feed unit is
contaminated with ink (paper is
contaminated before reaching the
platen).
The tips of the spurs are
deformed.
The paper thickness lever is
wrongly set. (positioned
incorrectly)
The printed nozzle check pattern
is mis-aligned.
How grease is applied to guide
shaft
Carriage motor condition
The encoder film is attached. Are
there scratches/foreign
material/grease?

Measure
Wipe with a damp cloth.
Disassemble the paper feed unit
and wipe with a damp cloth.
Perform paper feeding test several
times.
Replace the spur unit.
Correct the setting. (See
Readjust the head position. (See
Page 3-5)
Replace the BJ cartridge
Apply specified amount of grease
to specified portions.
Replace carriage motor with new
one.
Replace encoder film.
