Using the answering machine

Ready to record
The answering machine is pre-set
to ON, so it's ready to record
messages as soon as the base is
plugged in.
(Remember to charge the handset
for at least 24 hours first).
The Messages indicator on the
base comes on when the answering
machine is switched on.

Your BT Freestyle 650 answering machine uses voice
prompts to guide you simply through its operation.
You can operate your answering machine from:
• the base
• the handset
• remotely, from any other Touchtone
page 37.
Before first using your answering machine you should
set the correct day and time. If you have not done this
already when you set up your phone, please see page 9.
Switching the answering machine on/off
Using the base:
1. Press . The machine announces, "Answer on",
followed by the current outgoing message, or "Answer off".
Using the handset:
1. Press , scroll
2. ANS ON/OFF is highlighted, press
