Problems When Powering On the Printer

Problem
The printer does not turn on
when you press the Power ON/
OFF button on the control panel.
Individual indicators on the
control panel come on.

Printing Problems

Problem
Your printer does not print when
you click on the Print icon on the
task bar of the application you
are using.
The printing stops in the middle
of a print job.
Horizontal streaks are printed.
The printed characters are not
properly defined.

Possible Cause
• Refer to the section
"Problems During Printer
Setup"
• Specific printer error as
signalled by the indicator.
Possible Cause
• Your printer is not set as the
default printer.
• Your printer is not properly
connected to the computer.
• The paper is jammed.
• The ink cartridge is dirty.
• The ink cartridge is no longer
aligned.
Corrective Action
Refer to the section "Problems
During Printer Setup"
• Check the corrective action
for the corresponding
indicator that is explained in
"Meaning of the Indicators
on the Control Panel".
Corrective Action
• In Windows:
1 Click Start > Settings >
Printers.
2 Right-click your printer's icon
and select Set as Default.
• In Macintosh:
1 Reinstall the software
provided with the printer and
check the print and spooler
settings of the Mac OS X
system.
1 Turn off your printer and
computer, and then unplug
the USB cable from these
two devices.
2 Reattach the USB cable, then
turn on the printer first
followed by your computer.
1 Clear the paper jam. See
"Clearing Paper Jams".
2 Press the Cancel button to
reset the error condition. The
print job continues from the
next page.
