Refer to Chapter 1 for information about
minimum system requirements.
Insufficient Memory
If there is insufficient memory to run the
installation program, Windows will alert you and
stop the installation process. Quit all programs
that may have been running and try again. See
"Minimum System Requirements" in Chapter 1
for more information.
Printer Port Configuration
Make sure your SuperScript printer is directly
connected to your computer by an IEEE 1284-
compliant parallel interface cable.
Ensure that your computer's communications
port settings are correctly set in BIOS. For best
results, your parallel port mode should be set to
bi-directional (other modes may also work, but
NEC recommends that you configure your port to
bidirectional mode to ensure maximum compat-
ability). Since each system is unique, you should
review the documentation for your BIOS Setup
utility program in your computer's user guide.
Chapter 9: Troubleshooting
Insufficient Disk Space
The NEC SuperScript 870 driver software requires
at least 3 megabytes of free disk space. Free
enough disk space on your hard disk before
beginning installation.
Removing Previously Installed
SuperScript Software
You must remove any previously installed
SuperScript software (except the NEC SuperScript
860 or 1260) before installing the new software, or
your printer driver may fail to work. If Windows
does not work normally, you can start Windows in
Safe Mode, then remove the previous SuperScript
software by running the uninstall program.
Refer to Chapter 3, "Installing the Software" and
to the Windows documentation (or to Windows
Help) for information about Safe Mode.
