Working With Buttons
There are several key differences in the way Function Codes work in TPDesign4 relative to the way
they worked in TPDesign3:
Limitations:

Show/Hide Function Codes

You can choose to display function codes, as well as the current state of buttons in the Design View
window via the View > Display Function Codes option (or the toolbar button).
Alternatively, press the F11 key to toggle the function codes.
If function code visibility is enabled they will also be included in printed output.

Power Assign

One of the big time-eating factors of creating a touch panel is correctly setting up the channel,
address and level codes for any given button, and other properties that depend on button type. Use
Power Assign to streamline this process. The Power Assign feature can operate on a single button,
or on a group of selected buttons.
Power Assign works only at the button level, and does not affect pages or popup
pages.
Suppose you have a touch panel file from a pre-existing job, and you like part of one of the pages.
You can open the old file, select all the buttons you want to use, copy and paste them into the new
job. However, lets assume that they came through with the wrong channel codes (actually you can
use the Paste Control Options dialog to fix that). A good trick to use for this kind of operation is to
Shift-select the buttons in the order you want the channel codes to occur before copying and
pasting. Start with the button that will get the first channel code and click on it. Then hold down the
Shift key, and Shift-click on the rest of the buttons you want to copy, in the order that the final
channel codes will need to occur, adding them to the selection.

"Devices" in TPDesign3 are known as "Ports" in TPDesign4 (the maximum number of
available ports in TPDesign4 is 100).
Where there was a maximum number of 255 channel codes per device in TPDesign3, you
can assign up to 4000 codes per port in TPDesign4.
Unlike TPDesign3, TPDesign4 lets you to assign Address and Channel Codes directly to
a page.
The maximum number of channel codes per port is 4000.
The maximum number of address codes per port is 4000.
The maximum number of level codes per port is 600.
The maximum number of ports is 100.
