Chapter 3
Intel® RAID Controller SRCS16 Technical
Reference
This chapter describes the characteristics of the Intel® RAID Controller SRCS16. This
chapter contains the following sections:
3.1
Overview
The RAID Controller SRCS16 conforms to the PCI Local Bus Specification, Revision 2.2,
and is backward-compatible with previous versions of the specification.
PCI is a high-speed standard local bus for interfacing I/O components to the processor and
memory subsystems in a server. The component height on the top and bottom of the RAID
Controller SRCS16 follow the PCI Local Bus Specification, Revision 2.2, and PCI-X
Addendum to the PCI Local Bus Specification, Revision 1.0a. The RAID Controller SRCS16
is designed for use in a PCI computer system that has PCI standard bracket types.
The RAID Controller SRCS16 is an intelligent RAID controller that provides six Serial ATA
ports and supports RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 10, and RAID 50. The Web Console
utility provides RAID management and configuration support both before and after the
operating system boots.
Figure 3.1 provides a block diagram for the RAID Controller SRCS16.
