Configuration on Disk

Configuration on Disk saves configuration information both in NVRAM on the Intel
Controller SRCS16 and on the disk drives attached to the controller. If the RAID Controller
SRCS16 is replaced, the new controller detects the actual RAID configuration from the
configuration information on the drives.
1.3.3

Drive Roaming

The RAID Controller SRCS16 supports drive roaming across ports on the same controller.
Drive roaming lets a RAID Controller SRCS16 detect the actual RAID configuration,
maintaining the integrity of the data on each disk drive, even if the disk drives have changed
ports and/or target ID.
In addition, the RAID Controller SRCS16 offers enclosure management through the same
protocols used for SCSI Accessed Fault-Tolerant Enclosures (SAF-TE), using an I
interface to communicate with the storage enclosure processor (SEP). This feature allows you
to use RAID capabilities provided by the RAID Controller SRCS16 adapters in an enclosure
containing your hard drives.

Note:
Configuration on Disk does not work if you change both the RAID Controller
SRCS16 and the SATA connectors to different connectors on the new RAID
Controller SRCS16. It works only if you make one change at a time.
