Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Manual

When shipping your Debut Carbon, it is important to package the turntable properly. Using the OEM box and packaging will help minimize the possibility of damage while it is in transit.

Getting your turntable ready for shipping

There are a few items we want to remove from the turntable before placing it in the shipping box:

  • Remove the dust cover
  • Remove the anti-skate weight and the counterweight from the tone arm
  • Remove the platter
  • Remove the motor belt. Set these aside; we will come back to them later.

Prepping the motor for transit

  • If your motor transport screws are installed, that's great! If not, replace the TPE dampers and screw down the motor flange until it's snug in order to secure the motor to the plinth.

Securing the tonearm

Securing the tonearm
With a standard bread tie, twist around the tonearm rest once and then again above the tonearm itself. This will prevent it from dislodging in transit and potentially damaging your cartridge and/or stylus.

Place stylus guard on cartridge

Place on the front of the cartridge first and press up on the back of the guard until it clicks into place. This protects the most fragile part of the turntable.

Packing items into the box

There is an order in which to place the items into the box. Please follow this diagram. It is also found on the last page of your manual for reference.

Now add the plinth (and sub-platter) into the box. Use enclosed fabric cloth to protect the finish.

Let's start packing the box - Step 5
Place the cardboard triangle on top of the sub platter

  • The cardboard triangle will prevent the sub platter from coming loose from the spindle bearing cup. This little piece will prevent damage to your turntable plinth.

Setting the dustcover in the box

  • Using the supplied cardboard pieces, place the short ends of the dust cover into the cardboard end caps as shown. If you have a fabric sleeve for the dustcover, go ahead and put it on before placing the dustcover into the carboard end caps. We left the fabric sleeve off for illustration only.

Please include your RCA phono cable and drive belt along with any remaining accessories that came with your turntable.

Close up the box and tape down the flaps. We strongly suggest placing the turntable in a second box with packing material such as bubble wrap or sheet foam for additional protection.
