Electronic-Metered Control Valve
Description and Operation
The metered control valve models included in the 3651
series contain a flexible hose and a non-drip nozzle. Each
model is designed to meter quantities of motor oils (SAE
5-50). A set of 12 vinyl labels depicting various fluids is
included.
CAUTION
Do not operate these metered valves with an anti-
freeze and water mixture. Damage will occur.
Control Valve Operation
To begin, press the button in the center of the lever.
This releases the safety. With the button held, squeeze the
lever to open the valve.
To latch the valve in the full open position, release the
lever (while pressing the button), then release the button.
To shut the valve off, press the lever and release.
NOTE: The latch feature can be disabled with
the removal of a roll pin. See Figure 2.
Meter Description
The meter is totally electronic except for the metering
mechanism. The electronic register module contains a
microprocessor board that is powered by a lithium battery.
A 5-digit liquid-crystal display shows the amount of
fluid dispensed. For the current amount, the register
displays to the second decimal place. The total amount
displays as a whole number (a maximum of 99,999 with
no decimal points).

Fluid enters the inlet port and passes through the
metering chamber. The force of the fluid causes the oval
gear assembly to rotate. Each full rotation of the gear
assembly displaces a given volume of fluid. One oval gear
in the assembly contains two magnets. See Figure 2. These
magnets activate a reed switch in the register module which
provide a signal to the microprocessor.
Meter Operation
Depress the Reset button to reset the current display to
zero. Check the total amount of fluid dispensed by
depressing the Total button.
