  • Page 5 Introduction The P cylinder, CPA2 and CPS1 type can position a cylinder continuously or by step in proportion to air pressure input signal by remote operation. Also, even if the position is displaced by a change in load, its correction operation will work and return the position to the set point. These features make it ideal for the positioning of cylinders in process control, servo mechanisms and general industrial machines.
  • Page 6 Operating Principle When input pressure is applied to the input chamber (1), the input diaphragm (3) is moved to the left due to the input pressure force. Then, the distance to the nozzle (6) is narrowed, which increases the back pressure of the nozzle. The increased back pressure of the nozzle makes the force of the diaphragm A (7) overcome the force of the diaphragm B (8) and moves the spool (9) to the left, which allows supply pressure to go to the OUT1.

  • Page 10 Instructions ■Operation Warning 1. Do not use this P Cylinder out of the range of its specifications as this can cause failure. 2. If the system is supposed to be in danger because of failure of the P Cylinder, prepare the system with a safety circuit to avoid danger.
  • Page 11 ■ Air Supply Caution 1. Use dehumidified and dust-removed clean air as the supplying air source. If the air source contains dust, rust, cutting chips or oil from piping, this can result in operating failure, such as clogging of the fixed orifice and sticky motion of the spool. 2.
  • Page 12 ■Mounting Warning 1. Cut supply pressure and be sure to release compressed air from the positioner and cylinder before mounting. 2. Be careful not to get fingers caught when setting the mounting position. 3. When using the product outdoors, take measures to avoid wind and rain. Caution 1.
