GFC 500 Master Controls

Master Controls

Mode Controls
* = Requires appropriate nav source to be active

Arrangement of Roll, Status, and Pitch modes mirror the layout on the autopilot mode controller
Status Box

Control	Location	Description
Autopilot Controller (GMC 507)	Avionics Stack	Activates the autopilot/flight director, and selects the desired mode.
AP DISC / TRIM INT (Autopilot Disconnect Switch)	Left Yoke Horn	Press and release to disengage the autopilot. Press and hold 5 seconds to disable ESP.
MET Switch (Manual Electric Trim)	Left Yoke Horn	Commands manual electric pitch trim.
Go Around Button	Above Throttle Quadrant	Selects the flight director to Takeoff or Go-Around mode.

Set the selected navigation source toGPS
Have an active flight plan with VNAV constraints set
- Altitude constraint must be "at" or "at or below"
Set the altitude selector to lowest assigned altitude
Press the VNAV key

Altitude selection (bug) has priority over VNAV
- AP won't descend below the altitude bug

Step-down fixes
1. Set the altitude preselect to the next required altitude
2. Select VS, IAS, or PIT mode to descend to the next step-down fix
Activation prior to FAF
1. Set the selected navigation source as appropriate
2. Verify/set the CDI to the desired course
  - For BC approaches, set the CDI to the front course
3. Press the NAV key (if not already selected)
4. Verify the correct approach mode is annunciated
FAF to MAP
1. When at the MDA:
  1. Press the ALT key to maintain altitude
  2. Set the altitude preselect to the missed approach altitude

Step-down fixes
1. Set the altitude preselect to the next required altitude
2. Select VS, IAS, or PIT mode to descend to the next step-down fix
Activation prior to FAF
1. Set the selected navigation source as appropriate
2. Verify/set the CDI to the desired course
3. Press the APR key
4. Verify the correct approach mode is annunciated
FAF to MAP
1. When the GP/GS is captured, set the altitude preselect to the missed approach altitude
2. If a +V approach, when at the MDA, press the ALT key to maintain altitude
