    2 Product description 2.1 General The APEX WSS-W3 is a battery operated cup anemometer for the measurement of wind velocity with an integrated wireless module for the wireless transmission of the wind velocity to suitable wire- less receivers. An operating period of up to 1 year can be achieved by the use of power saving techniques.

    Product description 2.3 Use for the intended purpose The APEX WSS-W3 is a wireless sensor and serves the detection and wireless transmission of the wind velocity. Typical area of application are wind velocity on cranes booms and buildings. Since impairment of the radio communication/range cannot be ruled out, the device must not be used in close proximity to antenna systems with high UHF transmission power or in close proximity to power supply systems.

    Installation 3 Installation The APEX WSS-W3 is supplied complete with all necessary mounting parts. Installation can there- fore be performed simply and quickly. NOTE - Shortest possible distance between the sensor and the receiver antennas - as little shielding metal as possible between the sensor and receiver antennas...

  • Page 12: Mounting The Apex Wss-W3

    If the mounting place is not easy to access, you should only mount the wireless sensor after commissioning and establishment of the radio link! The APEX WSS-W3 is pushed onto the mounting flange of the mounting tube between two plastic washers and secured with a locking spring.

  • Page 13: Mounting The Antenna

    This operation muss be also performed on the respective receiver. The pairing mode is signalized by a yellow LED. Once a link is established the yellow LED will turn off, and the APEX WSS-W3 will be sending its state to the parent receiver.

    Pressing the pairing button for 5s will start the pairing process. The pairing will be signalized by a yellow LED. After a successful pairing the APEX WSS-W3 will be measuring and communicating its state to the parent receiver. This state will be signalized by a flashing green LED(15s interval).

    SED2 4-5 seconds. This causes the SED2 to un-pair from the gateway and pair to the range extender. This step can be repeated to connect other Sleepy End Devices to the Range extender.     Service and Maintenance 6 Service and Maintenance The APEX WSS-W3 does not contain any serviceable parts. Both the actual switching element and Service the electronic components are sealed. If you notice malfunctions, you should switch the device off by removing the battery, and have it checked and, if necessary, repaired immediately by an authorized service partner of WIKA Mobile Control.
