BlackBerry Enterprise Server for IBM Lotus Domino Performance Benchmarking
Verify that enough network bandwidth is available to handle the traffic that is generated by the BlackBerry
Enterprise Server. Based on the performance testing, a minimum of 9 Mbps of network bandwidth is required
if all BlackBerry Enterprise Server features are enabled for 2000 user accounts (not including the BlackBerry
Collaboration Service and the BlackBerry MDS Services). Monitor total bytes each second on the BlackBerry
Enterprise Server and make sure that enough bandwidth on the network is available to handle this traffic. The
amount of data that is pushed or pulled through the BlackBerry MDS Connection Service also affects the
bandwidth required.
Monitor the logs that the BlackBerry Enterprise Server components generate. Each component generates its
own set of logs. Disk space might become an issue if you do not monitor the log size. Log size is not limited by
default, but you can set a maximum. The size requirements of the system hard drive are site-specific and
depend on how often the BlackBerry Enterprise Server is administered if maximum log sizes are not
configured. If MSDE 2000 is installed locally, the maximum log size is 2 GB. If Microsoft SQL Server is installed
locally, there is no maximum log size.
