Coin-Cell Battery

CAUTION:
Before performing the following procedures, follow the safety instructions in your Product
Information Guide.
NOTICE:
To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically
touching a connector on the back panel of the computer.
NOTICE:
To avoid damaging the system board, you must remove the main battery before you begin working inside
the computer.
To remove the coin-cell battery:
1 Follow the procedures in "Before You Begin" on page 127.
2 Remove the memory cover. See "Memory" on page 129.

3 Remove the battery from the compartment on the system board by using a small screwdriver to lift one
side of the battery at the notch in the plastic connector, being careful not to break the plastic.
4 Grasp the battery and pull out it of the battery compartment.
To install the coin-cell battery:
1 Insert the edge of the coin-cell battery into the plastic battery compartment under the lip on the
compartment.
2 Carefully press the coin-cell battery into the compartment, being careful not to break the plastic.
