CLUTCH FLUID -
recommendations
Do not ride your vehicle with worn or
malfunctioning clutch! The clutch is an
important safety system of your vehicle,
and using the bike with clutch that is
anything less than perfect is very likely
to lead to a collision or upset, with
consequent risk of serious injury or
death.
NOTE
This vehicle is equipped with
hydraulic clutch control.
The clutch is extremely important for
your safety. Do not use the vehicle if the
clutch does not work perfectly. Always
check the clutch efficiency before
riding.
If the "feel" or position of the clutch
lever changes, this may be due to some
problem in the hydraulic clutch system.
If you have any doubt regarding the
perfect functioning of your clutch
system, or if the normal pre-ride checks
indicate any discrepancy, contact your
local aprilia Dealer before riding.
Make sure that the cable is neither
twisted nor worn out.
Prevent water or dust from accidentally
getting into the circuit.
In case maintenance operations are to
be performed on the hydraulic circuit, it
is advisable to use latex gloves.
If the fluid gets in contact with the skin
or the eyes, it can cause serious
irritations.
Carefully wash the parts of your body
that get in contact with the fluid.
Consult a doctor or an oculist if the fluid
gets in contact with your eyes.
DO NOT DISPOSE OF THE FLUID IN
THE ENVIRONMENT.
KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN.
When using the fluid, take care not to
spill it on the plastic and painted parts,
since it damages them.
T h e c l u t c h c o n t r o l f l u i d m u s t b e
changed every two years by your local
aprilia Dealer.
Use fluid of the type specified in the
lubricant chart, see p. 143 (LUBRICANT
CHART).
The clutch fluid reservoir (1) is positioned
on the left part of the handlebar, near the
clutch control lever coupling.
N O T E
P e r f o r m t h e m a i n t e n a n c e
o p e r a t i o n s w i t h h a l f t h e i n d i c a t e d
frequency if the vehicle is used in rainy or
dusty areas, on uneven surfaces or on
racetracks.
Before departure, check the fluid level in
the tank, see p. 62 (CLUTCH); have it
changed by your local aprilia Dealer
every two years.
Do not use the vehicle if you notice fluid

system.
