5 Setting up the appliance > Place the appliance on a firm, secure and horizontal surface. Ensure good ventilation. Note: Do not place the appliance on soft surfaces such as carpets, blankets or near curtains and wall hangings. The Ventilation openings could be covered. 1x operating instructions 6.2 The special features of the STERNRADIO IR 2 The STERNRADIO IR 2 consists of a WLAN receiver for Internet radio programmes with the following functions: The device has a colour display. Direct dialling buttons for the stations radio B2 Deutschland, radio Gold, Star*Sat Radio, Deutschlandfunk, Klassik Radio.
Open the battery compartment on the back of the device by pressing the tab on the battery compartment cover in the direction of the arrow. Then remove the cover. > Insert the battery of the STERNRADIO IR 2, making sure that the gold contacts are aligned with each other.

> Place the battery compartment cover on the battery compartment and close it until you hear it click into place. Replace or recharge a weakening battery in good time. The STERNRADIO IR 2 battery can also be purchased separately.
Insert the plug of the supplied mains adapter into the socket labelled DC-IN > on the back of the STERNRADIO IR 2. Then connect the mains adapter to the mains. The battery is charged as soon as the device is connected to the mains.
6.3.3 Headphones use hearing protectors! Do not listen to the radio at high volume via headphones. This can lead to permanent hearing damage. 7 Menu operation The menu provides access to all functions and settings of the STERNRADIO IR 2. The menu is navigated using the MENU, ◀, ▶ buttons and the scroll wheel. The menu is divided into submenus and contains, depending on mode type different menu items or functions that can be activated.
After a short time, these will then be displayed as a loud text. 8 Initial setup When the STERNRADIO IR 2 is switched on for the first time, the Initial setup wizard. All settings can also be changed at a later date at any time.

9.2 Playing radio stations/music Use the scroll wheel to select [Radio station/Music] and press the scroll > wheel. Under Radio stations/Music, all Internet radio stations are displayed in different categories. > Using a category/country/genre, select a station with the scroll wheel and press the scroll wheel to play the station.
> Repeat this process to save additional channels. If at least one channel has already been saved, the favourites list will now appear. You can now decide whether you want to overwrite the previously saved station or add the new station to the end of the list.
