Safeguarding your information on Web sites
Many Web sites give you the
chance to sign up for a newsletter,
make a purchase, or get information
that's customized to your interests.
Before you give information to or
fill out a form on a Web site, you
should always check to see if the site
is secure. A secure site electronically
encrypts the information that you
send, so that no one can "eavesdrop"
on it.

Here's how to determine if a site is secure
Look for a padlock at the bottom of the
screen when you're on the Web site.
Check to see that the Web address for the page

To check the Web address, press Menu on your
keyboard or remote.
Make sure that you see both of these — a padlock and a
Web address for the page that begins with https — before
you provide sensitive personal information to a Web site.
