Safeguarding your information on Web sites
Many Web sites give you the
chance to sign up for a newsletter,
make a purchase, or get information
that's customized to your interests.
Before you give information to or
fill out a form on a Web site, you
should always check to see if the site
is secure. A secure site electronically
encrypts the information that you
send, so that no one can "eavesdrop"
on it.

Here's how to determine if a site is secure
• Look for a padlock at the bottom of the
screen when you're on the Web site.
• Check to see that the Web address for the page
begins with https (the s after the p stands for secure).
To check the Web address, press Menu on your
keyboard or remote.
