Symptom
No display on the TV monitor.
Playback does not start after selecting a clip
thumbnail and pressing the center of the set
lever.
The actual recording time is shorter than the
estimated time.
The [AUDIO LEVEL CH-1/CH-2] adjustment knob
does not work.
SDHC/SDXC card cannot be initialized
(formatted).
Battery alarm appears even after loading a
charged battery.
Focus ring of the lens does not work.
Zoom ring of the lens does not work.
The built-in microphone does not work.
Unable to adjust the recording level of the built-in
microphone using the recording level knob.
The time code and user's bit are not displayed.
The date and time are not displayed.
Unable to switch from the Camera mode to Media
mode.
Sound or video is interrupted.
A part of the TV monitor screen appears shaky.
Images look unnatural on the TV monitor screen.
(long and thin, etc.)
Recorded clips cannot be found on the thumbnail
screen.
The camera recorder heats up.
The camera recorder operates slowly when
turning the power on or off.
The remote control does not work.
The following phenomena are not malfunctions.
● The screen momentarily turns red or black when the sun
enters the field of view.
● Black dots, or shiny red, blue, or green spots appear on the
screen.
The LCD screen contains 99.99 % or more effective
pixels, but 0.01 % or fewer pixels may be inactive or
always lit.
● Set [Display On TV] in the [A/V Out] menu to On . (A Page 73)
● Is the selected clip a playable clip? Playback is not possible if the clip has a different video
format setting.
● Recording time may shorten depending on the environment, such as when shooting fast-
moving subjects.
● Is the [CH1/CH2 AUDIO SELECT] switch set to AUTO ?
● Is the write-protect switch of the SDHC/SDXC card turned on? Make sure that the write-
protect switch is turned off. (A Page 21)
● Replace the battery with a new one.
● Set the [FOCUS/ZOOM] ring switch to FOCUS . (A Page 29)
● Set the [FOCUS/ZOOM] ring switch to ZOOM . (A Page 28)
● Remove the audio unit cable from the [AUDIO IN] terminal of the camera recorder.
(A Page 38)
● The recording level of the built-in microphone cannot be adjusted using the recording level
knob.
The recording level knob can only be used for the [INPUT1/INPUT2] terminal. Set the
volume of the built-in microphone using [Internal Mic Level] in the [Audio Set] menu.

● Even in Camera mode or Media mode, the time code and user's bit may not be displayed
depending to the type of status display. (A Page 80)
● Is [TC/UB] of [Status Display] in the [LCD/VF] menu set to Off ? To display the time code
and user's bit, set it to a value other than Off . (A Page 72)
● The date and time are only displayed on the STATUS 2 and STATUS 3 screens in the
Camera mode (during shooting).
● To display the time on the STATUS 1 screen, set [Time Display] of [Status Display] in the
[LCD/VF] menu to a value other than Off . ( A Page 83, 84 )
● You cannot switch to the Media mode during recording (mode indicator is red) or recording
pause (yellow displays such as [STBYC] and [STBYF]). To switch to the Media mode,
cancel recording pause and set to the stop mode (white display).
● Sometimes playback is interrupted at the connecting section between two scenes.
● Set [HDMI Output] in the [A/V Out] menu to Auto . (A Page 73)
● Adjust [Video Output] in the [A/V Out] menu to match your TV monitor. (A Page 73)
● Check the video file format or video format.
● Adjust [System Definition], [File Format], [Camera Resolution], and [Frame & Bit Rate] in
the [Record Format] menu to match the video format to be played back. ( A Page 48, 63 )
● The camera recorder may become warm when used for a long time. This is not a
malfunction.
● If there are many videos files on the SDHC/SDXC card, it takes time for the camera
recorder to process the files. Copy the files on the SDHC/SDXC card to a PC, and delete
them from the SDHC/SDXC card.
● Replace the battery. (A Page 15)
● The remote control may not function outdoors or under strong light conditions.
● Set [Wireless Remote] in the [Others] menu to On . (A Page 74)
● Disconnect the wired remote control if it is connected.
Reset the camera recorder when it does not
function properly.

Turn off the power.

Remove the battery and AC adapter from the camera
recorder, reattach them, and turn on the power.

Perform [Reset All] in the [Others] menu. (A Page 74)
