Solving Problems with Your CD-ROM Drive

If you are having problems reading data on a CD, try the following
steps:
1 Ensure that the CD is correctly inserted in the drive and that the disk
drawer is closed.
2 Ensure that the disk in the CD-ROM drive is a data disk, and not an
audio disk.
3 Check that you typed the correct drive letter which identifies the
CD-ROM to your computer.
4 Check that you are not attempting to write data to a CD.
5 Check that the CD is not dirty or damaged.
If you are having problems with sound when playing an audio CD, refer
to the problem-solving advice in the on-screen user's guide. See
"Reading the On-Screen User's Guide" on page 20.
If you are having problems using the CD-ROM drive at all, or if your PC
does not recognize the CD-ROM drive, you need to check the
installation of the drive. Refer to "Installing the Sound Board and CD-
ROM Drive" on page 2 of this guide, and do the following:
1 Check that the CD-ROM drive is enabled in the Setup program.
2 Check the CD power cable and data cable connections.
3 Check that the CD-ROM is physically correctly installed.
4 Check the jumper settings at the rear of the CD-ROM drive:
If the CD-ROM drive is connected directly to the system board via
its own data cable, the jumper should be set to the MA position.
If the CD-ROM drive is connected to the same cable as the hard
disk drive, the jumper pin should be set to the CS position.
5 Check that the CD-ROM driver software is correctly installed—refer
to the instructions given earlier in this guide, appropriate to your
own operating system.
