This story starts in May 2017. It instantly felt like such a natural fit. I’ve always been a bit cautious of doing any sort of artist Our head of artist relations, Tyler Devonald, saw “signature” type of thing but in this case I could something that caught his eye on the Fretboard clearly see the impact Wombtone was having on Journal.
‘70s, conducted by your fingertips. most smooth and absorbing motion. Wombtone collects multiple styles of phasing in one place, The Billy Strings Wombtone also has a few other using a rich, all-analog signal path that has its new upgrades. roots in the ‘70s.
Setup Here’s some info to help you get Wombtone settled into its new home. POWER Wombtone requires a 9V DC, center negative power supply with at least 150 mA of current. Voltage higher than 9V risks damaging your pedal. You’ll see this symbol on your power supply: OPTIONS Wombtone has a few ways to customize and...
Getting Started Let’s start with its character. Want to change the core sound? Adjust the STAGES. FEED VOLUME Want to get things singing? Turn up FEED. FEED Want to sweep across more RATE DEPTH FORM frequencies? Turn up DEPTH. DEPTH Now let’s mess with the movement itself.
Controls VOLUME Sets the output loudness. Wombtone has an internal voltage doubler and is capable of producing a substantial volume boost. VOLUME Sets the balance between the dry and phase-shifted signals. Around noon you will get classic phasing effects, while at 100% you can explore more unique and subtle phase vibrato sounds.

Controls FEED ( RAMP) Gradually creates feedback, intensifying the phase effect and making it more resonant. If ramping is engaged (pg. 32), this knob’s function will change to control the ramping speed. FEED RATE Sets the speed of the modulation. You can extend the range further by engaging the SLOW dip switch (pg.

Controls - ModuShape MODUSHAPE The ModuShape section is a set of four controls used to design the modulation shape. DEPTH Controls the range of the sweep. As you turn it up, Wombtone will increasingly sweep through a wider range of frequencies. FORM Sets the center point of the waveform.
Envelope Controls ENVELOPE A collection of three side-mounted toggles control Wombtone’s envelope. Turns on envelope control (left = on). Sets the release time of the envelope, which controls how quickly it moves. Short Long Medium SENS Sets the sensitivity of the envelope, which controls how easily it responds.
Phasing Tips STAGES Phasing is kind of magical and kind of weird. The STAGES toggle does a lot more than it might seem. You can think of it like a mode control - So we've distilled down a few handy bits of info each setting essentially turns Wombtone into a to enhance your phasing journey.

Envelope SENS controls the sensitivity - how easy it is to create movement. This lets you adjust the To get started using envelope control, response for different instruments and playing simply put the <ENV toggle into the H (high) styles. In the setting it will capture more left position.

The setup process is the DEPTH same - simply engage the dip switch for the This is a nice first setting for envelope knob you wish to control.
Customize Selects what the LED above the TAP footswitch displays. By default it will show tap tempo, but engaging this dip will let you see the ramp speed instead. If the TAP dip is on the LED will turn green. This will only be useful if ramping is engaged (pg.
Ramping START DEPTH Now the range of the modulation will smoothly increase and decrease at a speed set by the (RAMP) knob. The position of the knob you’re controlling is important, because it either sets the maximum or minimum point of the range (depending on the SWEEP setting).
