5 - FRAMING REQUIREMENTS NOTE: Framing dimensions should allow for wall covering thickness and fireplace facing materials. When using a hearth, adjust rough opening size as necessary to maintain at least minimum clearance requirements. CAUTION: Install fireplace on metal, concrete or hard wood surface extending the full width and depth of fireplace. 6 - MANTEL REQUIREMENTS B. TV AND MANTEL MOUNTING RECOMMENDATIONS Frame up the fireplace following the manual instructions. We recommend using one larger 2x8 or 2x10 header rather than doubled up 2x4’s. This is particularly relevant when installing the models with larger vent pipe that won’t have the proper clearance to combustibles around the pipe. Plan for the TV outlet and cable routing. -
