Important Notes
Please read before installing
1. Connect only No. 12 or 14 gauge copper or
copper clad wire to switch. See device for strip
length.
2. Do not connect aluminum wire to this device.
3. Install in accordance with all national and local
electrical codes.
4. Clean unit with a soft damp cloth only . Do not
use any chemical cleaners.

Lutron will, at its option, repair or replace any unit that is defective in materials or
manufacture within one year after purchase. For warranty service, return unit to place

postage pre-paid.
THIS WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER EXPRESS WARRANTIES, AND
THE IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY IS LIMITED TO ONE YEAR
FROM PURCHASE. THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THE COST OF
INSTALLATION, REMOVAL OR REINSTALLATION, OR DAMAGE RESULTING
FROM MISUSE, ABUSE, OR DAMAGE FROM IMPROPER WIRING OR
INSTALLATION. THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER INCIDENTAL OR
CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. LUTRON'S LIABILITY ON ANY CLAIM FOR

Installation
Step 1
Turn power off at circuit breaker or remove fuse.
Step 2
Remove faceplate. Pull switch from wall.
Turn screw to loosen
Step 3
Tag the wire that is connected to the different
colored screw or screw labeled COMMON on
switch (not the green ground screw).

Step 4
Disconnect switch wires.
Terminal Screws: Backwired:
Turn screw to loosen Insert screwdriver. Pull
out wire.
Step 5
Prepare wires. Trim or strip all wire conductors to
the length shown on the strip gauge on the back of
the switch.

Using Screw Terminals.
• Connect the bare copper or
green ground wire to the
green screw terminal on
the switch. If there is no
ground wire in your
wallbox, consult an
electrician.
• Connect the wire removed
from the different-colored
screw (Tagged wire) to the
screw terminal marked
common.
• Connect one of the

remaining wires to one of
the remaining screw

• Connect the remaining wire

to the last screw terminal

Using Backwire Holes.
• Connect the bare copper or
green ground wire to the
green screw terminal on
the switch. If there is no
ground wire in your
wallbox, consult an
electrician.
• Push the wire removed
from the different-colored
screw (Tagged wire) fully
into the Backwire Hole
marked COMMON.
Tag • Push one of the remaining
wires into one of the
Ground
remaining Backwire Holes.

Step 7
Mount and align switch. Install wallplate (purchased
separately).
Start screws
Step 8
Turn power on.
