This is the VIVO 40 Cpap/Bipap machine It is stored in Picu’s equipment cupboard behind the nurse’s station It should always be stored plugged into the mains socket...

A filter should be attached to the outlet pipe at the back of the machine...

Fit a Respironic Whisperflow filter FDE010 found in Picu’s storecupboard...

Use an Intersurgical Cpap breathing System, attach one end of the white tubing to the filter at the back of the machine...

and the other end of the white tubing to one of the inlets on the top of the humidification chamber...

Fit humidification chamber on to the top plate of a Fisher Paykel humidifier...

Attach the elbow connection of the green tubing in the Cpap Breathing System to the second inlet on top of the humidification chamber...

The green tubing should contain heating wires and be covered with a plastic sleeve for insulation...

2 wires are connected to the right side of the Fisher Paykel humidifier. Take the uppermost grey wire leading from the yellow disc This wire divides into 2, select the wire with the 3 hole trefoil end...

Insert the 3 hole trefoil end of the wire into the trefoil hole which is located in the end of the elbow connection of the green tubing now attached to the top of the humidifier chamber...

Take the lower wire on the right side of the Fisher Paykel humidifier leading from the blue disc and insert the blue ended T piece into the side of the elbow connection carefully aligning the blue v shape into the v slot in the hole...

Push the blue T piece firmly into the clear v shape of the upright connecting the humidifier to the green elbow...

You now have 2 grey wires attached to the elbow between the humidifier and the green tubing...

Take the long end of the second grey wire continuing from the blue V attached to the green elbow above the humidifier...

Push the blue probe into the hole found at the far end of the green tubing as shown...

Use a Respironics Disposable Exhalation Port, found in the PICU store cupboard FDE086...

Connect exhalation port onto the far end of the long green tubing next to the long grey humidifier wire Attach firmly...

If the patient needs Oxygen, attach one end of the green oxygen tubing to the flow meter on the wall and connect the other end to the small upright tube on the exhalation port...

Attach the green oxygen tubing firmly Leave the hole in the opposite side of the port free...

Measure the patient face using the guide in the mask packet Apply duoderm to patient’s face Attach the straps to the face or nasal mask and the mask to the exhalation port...
