Prepare to Install
1. Unbox and verify the contents.
2. Review and follow the safety information in the Install Guide.
3. Ensure that the computer used to access the EDS5000 web admin UI has an Ethernet port and Internet
access, a recent Web browser and a terminal emulator running, an RJ-11 port, and a DHCP client.
Install EDS5000 Hardware
1. Desktop: Place the provided 4 Rubber feet on bottom of EDS5000.
2. 19" Rack: Use the 2 Rack Mount Ears and screws to mount the EDS5000.

  • Page 2 The EDS5000 must have a unique IP address on your network. This IP address can be assigned automatically with DHCP, or you can assign it manually. The EDS5000 looks for a DHCP server when it first powers up to assign an IP address. You can use Lantronix Provisioning Manager (LPM) to locate the automatically assigned IP address.
  • Page 3 EDS5000 User Guide for configuration information at http://www.lantronix.com/support/downloads. If the EDS5000 was not assigned an IP address automatically by DHCP, you must assign one manually. If it was successfully assigned an IP address via DHCP, you can change the configuration via the Web Manager.
