Installation (See Figures 1, 3 and 4)
Personal injury or equipment damage,
due to bursting of pressure-containing
parts may result if this slam shut valve
is overpressured or is installed where
service conditions could exceed the
limits given in the Specification section
and on the appropriate nameplate or
where conditions exceed any rating of the
adjacent piping or piping connections.
To avoid such injury or damage, provide
pressure-relieving or pressure limiting
devices to prevent service conditions
from exceeding those limits. Also, be sure
the installation is in compliance with all
applicable codes and regulations.
Additionally, physical damage to the slam
shut valve could break the slam shut
controller off the main valve, causing
personal injury and property damage due
to bursting of pressure containing parts.
To avoid such injury and damage, install
the slam shut valve in a safe location.
Installation procedures performed
by unqualified personnel may result
in improper adjustment and unsafe
operation. Either condition may result
in equipment damage or personal
injury. Only a qualified person shall
install or service the OSA/80X Series
slam shut valve.
1. Check the data on the nameplate are compatible
with actual working conditions.
2. Make sure controller is installed upright,
i.e. screw (key 49) on top.
Mounting in any other way will jeopardize
controller's performance.
3. Connect port A of controller to the controlled
pressure point in downstream pipeline. The
pressure point must be in a straight run and
sufficiently away from restrictions, valves, pipe
bends, etc., in order to avoid turbulence that may
result in false trip initiations.
WARNING
CAUTION

Startup

1. Using the Reset Lever (supplied with slam shut
valve), reset (open) the slam shut valve by turning
the stem (key 6) in anti-clockwise direction as
shown by the arrow mark on the casing (key 47).
2. Wait until the pressure being controlled stabilizes
and then slowly release lever.
3. Repeat step 1. if slam shut valve did not reset
(open and hold at open position) successfully.
Also, ensure that lever (key 33) inside the
controller is in horizontal position.

Periodical Checks

It is recommended that controller be
checked periodically.
Cut-off Test
1. Cutoff the gas supply by means of closing inlet
and outlet valves. Disconnect the controlled
pressure tubing to port A. The controller should
shutdown the slam shut valve for Underpressure
Shut Off (UPSO) if it is set for it.
2. Through port A, apply pneumatic pressure to
normal operating level and reset the controller and
open slam shut valve.
3. Simulate pressure increase at port A until
Overpressure Shut Off (OPSO) value is reached.
The controller should shutdown the slam shut
valve for Underpressure Shut Off (UPSO).
4. Reconnect the controlled pressure tubing to port A
and bring the system back to normal operating
conditions by following the instructions described
in Startup section.
