Time to install this should only
take about two hours.
Proper installation of this kit required knowledge of the factory
recommended procedures for removal and installation of original
equipment components. We recommend that the factory shop manual
and any special tools needed to service your vehicle be on hand during
the installation. Installation of this kit without proper knowledge of the
factory recommended procedures may affect the performance of these
components and the safety of the vehicle
• Always wear eye protection when operating power tools

  • Page 3 INSTALLATION MANUAL STEP 2 | Open the tailgate and use a trim clip tool to remove the trim panel on the tailgate. STEP 3 | Disconnect the third brake light wiring harness. Use a trim clip tool, if necessary. STEP 4 | Feed the wiring/rubber plug through to the outside of the vehicle.
  • Page 4 INSTALLATION MANUAL STEP 5 | Remove the rubber tire stoppers by pulling them out. If you must use a trim clip tool, be careful not to scratch any paint. STEP 6 | Use a 13mm socket to remove the hardware securing the tire carrier to the vehicle, and set the carrier off to the side.
  • Page 5 INSTALLATION MANUAL STEP 7 | Use a 13mm socket and wrench with the provided M8 hardware to secure the rubber catch onto the backing plate. STEP 8 | Carefully peel and apply the provided foam to the backside backing plate. NEED HELP? 855-680-9595...
  • Page 6 INSTALLATION MANUAL STEP 9 | Supplied in the kit are four heim joints. (2) of these are right hand thread and (2) of them are left hand thread. It does not matter if left hand or right hand thread heims are used on the backing plate, however it is crucial to make sure they are matching.
  • Page 7 INSTALLATION MANUAL STEP 11 | Secure the backing plate to the tailgate using the factory hardware with a 13mm socket/wrench. STEP 12 | Use a trim clip tool to remove the dust cap. STEP 13 | Slide the spindle through the top of the bumper.
  • Page 8 INSTALLATION MANUAL STEP 14 | Grease the supplied bearings, races, and spindle generously ensuring complete coverage on the inside and outside.   • Page 9 INSTALLATION MANUAL STEP 16 | Install the provided seal on the bottom of the tire carrier ensuring that is seated flush against the carrier. Use a rubber mallet gently, if necessary. STEP 17 | Install the larger provided black washer onto the top of the spindle. Then, place your carrier onto the spindle.

  • Page 15 INSTALLATION MANUAL To adjust the carrier properly, the tailgate should almost closed, but not latched. Spin the center nuts to close the gap between the swing arm and tailgate by hand while leaving the tailgate slightly open. An excessive amount of pre-load could damage the tailgate when you close it so this step must be performed carefully, and correctly.
  • Page 16 INSTALLATION MANUAL STEP 29 | To properly adjust the in/ out position of the carrier asembly, install and loosely secure the spare tire to the carrier. The tire should not be completely secured to the carrier assembly, only enough that the tire is secure and will not fall off.
  • Page 17 INSTALLATION MANUAL STEP 30 | With the tire contacting the carrier mark where the position of the tire carrier portion of the assembly. Then, remove the spare tire. STEP 31 | Push the carrier approximately 1/4” in from the marked line. It may be partially visible, or not visible at all once adjusted.
