With the new assembly completed, you can now reattach the Audio and KeyKode Reader to
your Cintel Scanner. Connect the reader to your Cintel's XLR port and secure it with the three
M3 captive screws.
Do not attach the front covers of the reader yet as you will need to have access to the
components for the calibration and testing process.

Setup and Testing

After installing the new magnetic head, you will need to update your Cintel Scanner's internal
software and reset the maganetic head run time.
Performing a Firmware Update
Software updates for the firmware on your Cintel Scanner's Audio and KeyKode Reader are
managed through the Cintel Setup utility and require Cintel 5.0 or above.
To update the firmware:
1
Connect the Audio and KeyKode Reader to your computer with a USB C cable.
2
Run the Cintel Setup utility and select 'reader'.
3
Click the 'settings' button and go to the 'setup' tab.
4
In the 'device information' section, click 'Upgrade' and follow the prompts.
Once completed, your Cintel Audio and KeyKode Reader will recognize the mag head
replacement.
NOTE The Audio and KeyKode Reader firmware should only be upgraded when
replacing magnetic head type version 1 with version 2. Upgrading the firmware while
still using magnetic head type version 1 will cause poor performance.
Reset Magnetic Head Run Time
After replacing the Audio and KeyKode Reader's magnetic head, you will also need to reset
the runtime counter. Resetting the counter allows you to monitor the usage of your new
magnetic head.
