To delete or call up VCR information on the TV screen
Press DISPLAY on the Remote Commander.
Notes on the on-screen display
* The remaining tape length indicator does not appear when an
NTSC-recorded tape is being played back.
¢ The remaining tape length indicator only shows the approximate
amount of tape left.
* The remaining tape length indicator may not operate properly
when a cassette with a short tape length such as T-20 or T-30, or
non-standard tape is loaded.
* The on-screen display does not appear during still mode or slow
motion playback, or high speed playback.
Indexing tape contents
The linear time counter on the TV screen indicates the
approximate running time of the tape. By noting the counter
readings, you can find certain scenes later by referring to the
counter.
When a cassette is inserted, the counter reading becomes
zero (0:00:00). The VCR keeps counting the length of the
tape being played back unless the tape is ejected.
To reset the counter to zero (0:00:00)
Press COUNTER RESET on the Remote Commander.

¢ The linear time counter does not work properly on the portions on
which no recording has been made.
© The linear time counter does not appear for the tape recorded
with the NTSC color system.
8 OPERATIONS
Adjusting the Picture

The trackifig condition is automatically adjusted on this VCR.
Adjusting the tracking automatically
The AUTO TRACKING indicator blinks in the display window
while the VCR is searching for the best tracking condition,
and lights when the optimum playback picture is obtained.
The automatic tracking control is activated for about four
seconds in the following cases:
¢ When you start playing back a tape after inserting it.
« When the picture is so distorted that the tracking condition
needs to be readjusted even during playback.
¢ When you press TRACKING AUTO/MANUAL on the
Remote Commander after the picture is adjusted
manually.
e When the recording mode on the playback cassette is
switched between SP, LP or EP and back again.
