BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME
CHECKING YOUR MAINS VOLTAGE
(Except for the U.S.A., Canada, Australia, U.K.
and Continental Europe.)
Before you insert the power-plug
in the wall
socket,
please check the line voltage (mains
voltage) setting, to ensure
that it corresponds
with the mains voltage in your area. If it is not
correctly set, please adjust the voltage selector
switch to the proper setting before you start
operating this equipment.
The voltage selector switch is located on the base
panel.
CAUTION
*
Before adjusting the "voltage selector switch"
please remove the power-plug from the power
socket.

Installing the discs in the magazine
The magazine provided can hold up to six discs.
— How to install the discs.
1. The disc trays in the magazine are remov-
able.
Slide the disc tray out while simultaneously
the tray lock button.

2. Locate a disc on the disc tray with its label side
up.

3. Line up the disc tray with the grooves in the
magazine and push the disc tray right in.
Itis unnecessary to press the tray-lock button
when inserting the disc tray.

Ifyou wish to use 8 cm (3") CDs, please obtain
the special magazine (XC-M73), designed for
these.

If you wish to use 12 cm (5") CDs, please
obtain the special magazine (XC-M75), de-
signed for these.
Please note:
*
Never bend the disc tray or force it into the
magazine.
A disc tray inserted skewed may cause a
malfunction.

The openings in the disc trays are for the
passage of the laser signal. These openings
leave a part of the shiny surface of the disc
exposed. Please take care not to touch this
shiny surface.

It is not possible to play from the disc if it is
located upside-down.
*
Never place a disc directly in the magazine
without using the disc tray.
installing batteries in the remote control unit
— Batteries
The remote control unit provided require two size
AAA (1.5 V) batteries
-— Battery replacement
The service life of the batteries depends on the
condition of use; the standard life is about one
year. When the batteries become weak, the ef-
fective distance of the remote control unit will
become
shorter.
If this happens,
replace the
batteries with new ones.
Notes:
*
The lower the temperature, the shorter the
battery life.
How to install batteries
For XL-M505TN, XL-M504BK only
1. Remove the rear cover of the remote control
unit by pressing down
and simultaneously
pulling it backwards.
2. Install batteries (AAA, R03, UM-4). Be sure
batteries are installed with correct polarity, (+)
and (-).
3. Slide the rear cover back.
Please note:
Incorrect use of batteries can cause corrosion or
damage. Note the following points to lengthen
battery life.
1. Install batteries observing the correct polarity,
(+) and (-).
2. Do not use new and old batteries simultane-
ously.
3. Batteries with similar shapes may have dif-
ferent voltage ratings. Be sure to use the
correct batteries.
4. Remove batteries from the remote control unit
if it will not be used for a long period of time.
