Savaria® Vuelift® Glass Details and Quality Statements
Note: ASTM standards provide full details for acceptable defects for glass
manufacturing of this nature, but the information below is provided to offer a
simple visual inspection process.
Vuelift glass models use laminated glass consisting of an interior plastic film
laminated within two panes of glass. This provides safety and strength for the
elevator. The panels are low iron glass making them clear without a green hue.
However, due to the lamination process, there may be some visual
imperfections. The notes below provide the quality standards of these possible
imperfections.
Visual Inspection Process
Note that reflections and light refractions, especially through multiple panels
can create distortions and visual effects.
Panels should appear clear when viewing glass as follows:
Looking directly at the panels, not looking up or down
With daylight conditions, but not direct sunlight or other direct
lighting
From a minimum distance of 10 feet or 3 metres
For a time of 10 seconds or less
Acceptable Blemishes and Imperfections (curved or flat panels)
Blemishes, minor scratches or small bubbles are considered
acceptable unless they are visible from 10 feet/3 metres
Glass doors feature an exposed edge were the lamination process will
be visible when viewing the door profile
Note for Curved Glass
Due to the manufacturing process for bending glass, vertical lines may be
visible upon close inspection.
