Individual images in a video or on the TV are
called frames.
DVDs are divided into some large sections
(titles) or some small sections (chapters). Each
section is numbered; these numbers are called
"Title number" or "Chapter number".
Example:
Title 1
,
Title 2
I-chapter ! , Chapter 2, Chapter3-1-_Chapter
1,Chapter
Video CDs or CDs are divided
into some
sections (tracks). Each section is numbered;
these numbers are called "Track number".

The two fields are displayed, alternately, on the
screen, so the image is blurry. However, the
image quatity is better than field images.
Half of the video information (video signal) in a
frarf_e is called a field. With conventional
TV
systems,
a signal frame
(a single screen)
consists of two fields.
Example:
I Track 1 ,Track 2,, Track 3,,Track 4,,Track 5
Only one field (half of the video information) is
displayed
on the screen,
so the
apparent
resolution is low. However, there is no blurring
on the screen.
An interactive DVD is a DVD software which
includes multiple angles, multiple plot endings,
etc.
This refers to a screen on which part of the
wide-screen picture (either at both sides or one
side of the screen) is automatically eliminated
so that the picture fills the whole screen.
If the Video CD has "With Playback Control" or
others written on the disc surface or on the
jacket, the scenes or information to be viewed
(or listened to) can be selected interactively
with the screen by looking at the menu shown
on the screen.
In these instructions, playback using the menu
screen is referred to as the "menu play" for
Video CDs. This player supports Video CDs
with playback control.
This refers to a screen on which the playback
picture of wide-screen
DVDs or Video CDs
appears with black bands inserted at the top
and bottom of the screen to fill in the gaps
where the size of the picture is smaller than the
screen.
The
S
(separate)
video
output
connector
separates
the color (C) and luminance
(Y)
signals before transmitting them to the TV set
in order to achieve a sharper picture.
Use
the
S
video
cable
(optional)
when
connecting the player to a TV set equipped
with an S video input connector for the best
picture clarity possible.
