CASSETTE PLAYBACK ON DECK A AND/OR DECK B
@ Switch on the set by pressing POWER button @.
e Press DECK SELECTOR button @4 'A' for DECK A, 'B' for DECK B
or 'A+B' for both decks, see —.
@ Set SOURCE
selector (1 in position TAPE.
@ Press the EJECT button é@9 for DECK A and/or @ for DECK B. The
cassette holders @) and/or @8 will now open.
e Insert a recorded cassette with the full reel on the left-hand side and
the open part facing down.
e Press the required TAPE SELECTOR
button 63, see —.
@ Press PLAY button @) and playback will start.
e Adjust the sound with the controls VOLUME (3, BALANCE @, BASS
@®, TREBLE
@, STEREO
and LOUDNESS
button @, see 'AM-
PLIFIER'.
e@ When both decks are in the playback mode, the sound as heard
through the loudspeakers is determined by the position of A-B FADER
CONTROL (, see —.
@ When using headphones, set headphone SOURCE
selector 6} to
SOURCE and adjust the VOLUME with control @. While reproducing
e.g. DECK A via the loudspeakers, you may listen to DECK B via
headphones, see 'HEADPHONES'.

@ To stop playback, press STOP button @.
DECK SELECTOR
buttons
When button 'A + B'is pressed, the tape transport buttons will control both decks
at the same time, except for the recording function, which is only possible on
DECK B.
During tape transport, you may press another DECK SELECTOR
button and
operate the chosen deck, while the other deck is continuing its previous order,
e.g. while DECK A is rewinding a cassette, you may switch DECK B for fast
forward winding by pressing DECK SELECTOR button 'B' and pressing the fast
forward button FF.
When one of both decks has reached the end of the tape, it will be stopped
automatically while the other deck continues operating.
The DECK SELECTOR buttons only control the tape transport mechanisms, but
they do not control the signal as reproduced by the loudspeakers.
TAPE SELECTOR buttons @

NORMAL I for FERRO cassettes (ferric oxide FezO3, IEC type J).
-
CrOo I for CHROME
cassettes (chromium dioxide CrO. or equivalent, EC
type ).
-
METALT¥ for METAL cassettes (Fe, IEC type I¥).
@ The TAPE SELECTOR buttons 63 will serve for both decks simultaneously, so
press the required buiton for that type of cassette, which is reproduced through
the loudspeakers at that very moment.
A-B FADER CONTROL (@
When
both decks
are in the PLAY
mode, the sound
as heard through the
loudspeakers is determined by the position of A-B FADER CONTROL (.
In position 'A', DECK A is reproduced and in position 'B' DECK B.
In position A+B both decks are heard simultaneously.
The A-B FADER CONTROL is operative when both decks are in position PLAY
or PAUSE (or one deck in position PLAY and the other in position PAUSE).
When
one of both decks is switched
to the STOP
mode,
the A-B FADER
CONTROL
becomes
inoperative and the playing deck will automatically be
reproduced.
Fast forward winding and rewinding @9é) FF/CUE - REW/REVIEW
@ When the tape is at rest, press the fast forward wind FF @ or rewind REW @
button.
Fast winding can
be stopped
and the pressed
button
released
by
pressing STOP button @).
e During recording or playback, the fast forward wind (CUE) @@ and fast rewind
(REVIEW) buttons must be held pressed. The PLAY button will remain engaged
but the record button REC will be released. When releasing the CUE @ or
REVIEW @ buttons, the recorder will automatically revert to playback.
During CUE and REVIEW, the sound will stay audible, however, played back at
a high speed.
Tape counters (7)
Make a habit of setting the tape counters
to zero by pressing the zero reset
button immediately after inserting a cassette. By noting the counter reading at
which
each
recording
commences,
you will be able to locate any of your
programmes rapidly by fast winding or rewinding to the same reading.
End of the cassette
When the end of the tape in the cassette is reached during recording, playback
and normal fast winding and rewinding, the corresponding
cassette deck is
automatically switched to the STOP position.
