USING THE HEDGE TRIMMER

WARNING:
Avoid trimming too much at one time or
through the heavy shrubbery. This can cause the blades to
bind and slow, reducing the cutting efficiency.

56 VOLT LITHIUM-ION CORDLESS ARTICULATING POLE HEDGE TRIMMER— HTX5300-PA
WARNING:
To prevent serious personal injury, keep
hands away from blades. Do not attempt to remove cut
material or hold material to be cut when the blades are
moving. Make sure that the blades have completely
stopped and the battery pack is removed before clearing
jammed material from blades. Do not grasp the exposed
cutting blades or cutting edges when picking up or
.
holding the unit
WARNING:
Clear the area to be cut before each use.
Remove all objects, such as cords, lights, wire, or string
which can become entangled in the cutting blade and
create a risk of serious personal injury.
NOTICE:
For new growth, a wide sweeping is suitable
for the stems fed directly into the cutting blade. For older
growth, a sawing movement is good for trimming the
thicker stems. A non-powered hand saw or pruning saw is
suggested for trimming the large stems first.
Cutting Close to the Ground
1. Set the cutting blades to a suitable angle.
2. Swing the hedge trimmer right and left in an arc and
do not rest the cutter blade on the ground (Fig. L).
Cutting the Side of the Hedge (Fig. M1, M2)
1. Set the cutting blades to a suitable angle.
2. Slowly swing the hedge trimmer up and down in an
arc as you move along the hedge.
Cutting the Top of the Hedge (Fig. N)
1. Hold the cutting blades at an angle of 0° to 10° to the
top of the hedge.
2. Swing the hedge trimmer horizontally and in an arc
while making the cut.
Cutting Overhead (Fig. P1, P2)
1. Set the cutting blades completely to a suitable angle.
2. Hold the hedge trimmer and slowly swing it in an arc
to make maximum use of its reach.
WARNING:
Any overhead working position is tiring.
To minimize the risk of accidents, work in such positions
for short periods only. Set the angle of the blades to
maximum so that the machine can be held in a lower, less
tiring position while still providing adequate reach.
