The following checks will assist in the correction of most problems which you may encounter with your system.
Before going through the check list below, first check the following points.
e The power cord must be connected firmly.
e The speaker connection must also be firm.
Should any probiem persist after you have made these checks, consult your nearest Sony dealer.
Radio Reception

The TUNED indicator flickers.
The STEREO indicator flickers.
Severe hum or noise.
e Adjust the antenna.
e Adjust the antenna.
e Adjust the antenna.
e The signal strength is too weak. Connect the external antenna.

e Connect the ground wire.
Cassette Deck Operation

Recording cannot be made.
¢ No cassette in the cassette holder.
e The tab is removed from the cassette. (See page 44.)
e The tape is wound completely.
Tape does not move even when you press the [> button.
e The cassette deck is in the pause mode.
Recording or playback cannot be made or sound level is iow.
e Dirty head (See page 62.)
¢ Magnetic build-up on the record/playback head. (See page 62.)
Excessive wow or flutter, or sound drop-out.
* Contamination of the capstans or pinch rollers. (See page 62.)
Insufficient erasure.
¢ Magnetic build-up on the erase head. (See page 62.)
Increase of noise or erase of high frequencies.
¢ Magnetic build-up on the record/playback head. (See page 62.)
