Disc scan function
When the SCN button [iis pressed for more
than 2 seconds, "DISC" and "SCN" appear and
the first 10 seconds of the first track on ail the
discs are played. Press the SCN button again to
stop scanning.
Repeat function
When the RPT button @lis pressed, "RPT"
appears on the display and the current track is
played repeatedly, Press the RPT button again
to cancel the repeat mode.
Disc repeat function
When the RPT button Blis pressed for more
than 2 seconds, "DiSC" and "RPT" appear on
the display and the current disc is played repea-
tedly. Press the RPT button again to cancel the
disc repeat mode.
Random playback
When the RDM button liflis pressed, "RDM"
appears on the display, and all the tracks on the
disc are played in random order. Press the RDM
button again to cance} the random play mode.
Dise random playback
When the RDM button [iis pressed for more
than 2 seconds, "DISC" and "RDM" appear on
the display, and all the tracks on all the discs in
the CD changer are played in random order,
Press the RDM button again to cancel the disc
random play mode.
Programmed playback
Up to 50 tracks can be programmed to play
repeatedly in the programmed order.
Programming tracks
1} Select the track to be set in the programme
list and start playing it.
2) Press the PME button S#for at least 2
seconds, The number of the currently playing
track is stored in the programme memory,
3) Repeat steps 1} and 2) to make the pro-
gramme list.
Playing the programmed tracks
Press the P.PLAY button
fi for more than 2
seconds. The tracks are played in the program-
med order.

To resume normal playback, press the P.PLAY
button again for more than 2 seconds.
*""NO PROGRAM" appears if no tracks have been sto-
red in the programme memory.
"|t a disc containing a programmed track has been
removed, that track is skipped.
Playing from programme lists
It is also possible to start playback from the
middie of a programme list.
1) in the CD changer mode, press the ADJ but-
ton 4.
2} Use the up and down buttons ito select
"P.PLAY".
3) Press the ENT button ff. "P.PPLAY LIST"
appears, and the display switches to the pro-
gramme list,
4) Use the up and down buttons to select the
track you want to hear.
5) Press the ENT button for more than 2
seconds. Playback starts from the selected
track,
Clearing tracks from the list
1) In the CD changer mode, press the ADJ but-
ton ig,
2) Use the up and down buttonsifto select
"P._PLAY", then press the ENT button ff.
3) Use the left and right buttons ito select
"P.PLAY CLR",
4) Use the up and down buttons iiiito select the
track to be cleared.
5) Press the ENT button for more than 2
seconds. The selected track is cleared.
6) Press the ADJ button.
Switching the magazine (When the
CDC1205 or CDC 1805 is connected)
This function can be used when a CD changer
with multiple magazines is connected.
The next magazine is selected each time the
MAG button [Slis pressed.
Locking the magazine
Press the MAG button [E}for more than 2
seconds. "{€2]" appears on the display, and only
the currently displayed magazine is played.
To cancel this, press the MAG button again for
more than 2 seconds,
" Magazines can be selected even when a magazine is
locked. When this is done, the selected magazine is
locked.
"When a magazine is locked, scanning and random
playback are only performed for the locked magazine.
Giving titles
Titles can be given to discs and displayed. Up
to 400 titles can be stored in the memory.
1) Select the disc to which you want to give a
tite.
2) Press the ADJ button fig.
3) Use the up and down buttons {to select
"TITLE.
4) Press the ENT button ff]. "TIFLE INPUT"
appears on the display, and the display
switches to the title input display.
5) Use the left and right buttons
fil to set the
cursor position.
"Up to 13 characters can be set.
Use the up and down buttons {to select the
letters or numbers.
*When the DISP button is pressed, the characters
change as follows:
Capital letters - Numbers -> Umiauts and accented
letters -® Smatt letters + Symbols -» Capital letters
7) Repeat steps 5} and 6) to input the title.
8) Press the ENT button for more than 2
seconds. The title is stored in the memory.
9) Press the ADJ button.
Calling out a list of titles
1) Set the CD changer mode.
2) Press the ADJ button fig.
3) Use the up and down buttons fito select
"INDEX".
4) Press the ENT button fig. "TITLE LIST™
appears on the display, and the display
switches to the title list display.
5) Use the up and down buttons to select the
title.
6) if the ENT button is pressed for more than 2
seconds while the title is displayed, playback
begins from the disc with the selected title.

Clearing titles from the title list
1) Set the CD changer mode.
2) Press the ADJ button.
3) Use the up and down buttons {ito select
"INDEX", then press the ENT button iq.
4) Use the left and right buttons{ to select
"TITLE CLR". The display switches fo the
title list display.
5) Use the up and down buttons to select the
title to be cleared.
6) Press the ENT button for more than 2
seconds to clear the selected title.
7) Press the ADJ button.
MD Changer Operations
When a separately sold Mini Disc changer
(MDJ474) is connected, it can be controled
from the ARX9170R.
Listening to MDs
1) Press the FUNC button to select the MD
changer mode, Playback starts automatically.

When the MO changer mode is set, the disc title is
displayed. "~~~ ~~ is displayed if no title has
been input. Also, when the SHIFT button lis pres-
sed, the display switches between the track num-
ber play time, title and clock,
Press the play/pause button
WZ to stop play-
back temporarily.
3) Use the direct buttons@to select the desired
MD.
"Nothing happens if a direct button at which no MD
is loaded is pressed.
*When the MD which is currently playing is selected,
playback resumes from the first track on that MD.
Use the left and right buttons {i@to select
tracks.
b>: Press this to start playback from the
beginning of the next track.
<4: Press this to move back to the beginning
of the current track. Press it again to
move back to the beginning of the pre-
vious track.
