15 Installing Windows software

This chapter describes installing software and setting up printing from a
PC-compatible computer running Windows 3.1x, Windows 95, or Windows NT.
The general steps for installing the Fiery XJ user software from the CD are:
• Install the plug-ins (Fiery XJ Export and Fiery XJ Scan) and the Fiery XJ utilities.
The necessary network files are installed with the Utils Installer, not with the Export
or Scan Installers. Be sure to run the Utils Installer in order to use all the Fiery XJ
utilities and plug-ins.
• Move files to the appropriate locations as necessary.
• Edit configuration files as necessary.
• Copy additional color files from the User Software CD as needed.
• If you will be using Fiery XJ Scan, load the monitor settings file.
• If you will be using EFICOLOR
separation tables for your Fiery XJ.
• Install the PostScript Printer Driver you want to use.
• Set up the printer driver to communicate with the Fiery XJ.
Installing Windows software
The User Software CD includes the following installers:
• Export (English\Instalrs\Export\Disk1 folder)
Installs the Fiery XJ Export plug-in version 3.1 for Photoshop.
• Scan (English\Instalrs\Scan\Disk1 folder)
Installs the Fiery XJ Scan plug-in version 3.1 for Photoshop.
• Utils (English\Instalrs\Utils\Disk1 folder)
Installs Fiery XJ Downloader, Fiery XJ Print Calibrator, and Fiery XJ Spooler.
with Photoshop, install the EFICOLOR
