1 Installing Macintosh software

The general steps for installing the Fiery XJ user software from the CD and setting up
printing from a Macintosh computer are:
• Install the plug-ins and utilities.
• Install the ColorSync
• Copy additional color files from the User Software CD as needed.
• If you will be using Fiery XJ Scan, load the monitor settings file.
• If you will be using Photoshop, install the Photoshop Separation Tables for your
Fiery XJ.
• Install the Adobe PostScript Printer Driver.
Installing Macintosh software
The User Software CD includes the following installers:
• Fiery XJ Export Installer (Installers folder)
Installs the Fiery XJ Export plug-in version 3.1 for Photoshop; Export Processor,
which is necessary in order to run Fiery XJ Export version 3.1; and Export Profiles,
which are used to convert RGB colors to CMYK.
• Fiery XJ Scan Installer (Installers folder)
Installs the Fiery XJ Scan plug-in version 3.1 for Photoshop.
• Utilities Installer (Installers folder)
Installs Fiery XJ Downloader, Fiery XJ Print Calibrator, and Fiery XJ Spooler; and
basic and extended screen fonts.
• ColorSync
Profiles Installer (Color Files:Color Management:ColorSync
Installer folder)
Installs ICC printer profiles specially designed for use with the Fiery XJ; and
Calibrated RGB, a file for use with Photoshop and Fiery XJ Scan that allows you to
set the proper source color space.
