3. PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION
3.1. BLOCK DIAGRAM
The block diagram of the machine is shown in the figure below:

TLCBR
This is the heart of the machine. It receives commands from the PC for reading from and
writing to the key, and converts them into appropriate electrical signals to and from the key
reader.
(2)
KEY READER
It is connected to the TLCBR, and receives commands from the TLCBR for reading from and
writing to the inserted key. It has 2 LEDs: a green LED which illuminates when the device is
powered up and a red LED which illuminates when a read or write operation is in progress.
(3)
POWER SUPPLY
Receives the mains voltage at its inputs and outputs the DC voltage (+12 V) which supplies
the TLCBR and the key reader. Serves as a bypass for the serial communication signals.
