TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL PIZZA MAKING
Use high-quality ingredients
Start with the best-quality ingredients you can find. This includes fresh
tomatoes or good-quality tomato sauce, high-quality cheese (such as
mozzarella), and fresh herbs and vegetables.
Homemade dough
Consider making your pizza dough from scratch. Homemade dough
allows you to control the texture and flavor of your crust. There are many
simple and delicious pizza dough recipes available online.
Proper dough handling
When working with pizza dough, handle it gently to avoid overworking it.
Let it rest for a few minutes after kneading to make it easier to stretch or
roll out.
Roll or stretch the dough evenly
Whether you're using a rolling pin or your hands, aim for an even
thickness when shaping your dough. A thicker crust in one area and a
thinner one in another can result in uneven cooking.
Purchase a Salton pizza peel
A pizza peel is a handy tool for launching pizzas into the Oven. It's a flat,
paddle like utensil with a handle. You can build your pizza on the peel,
then slide/launch onto the hot Cast Iron Stone in the Oven.
No pizza peel, no problem!
Build your pizza on:
a) a rimless cookie sheet
b) a rimmed baking sheet flipped upside down
c) parchment paper
d) stiff piece of carboard
e) cutting board
When the Oven is ready, transfer it onto the hot Cast Iron Stone in the
Oven. DO NOT leave the pizza on cardboard or parchment paper. It
will burn and catch fire.
Use cornmeal or flour for easy transfer
Sprinkle some cornmeal or flour on your pizza peel or baking sheet
before placing the dough on it. This prevents sticking and makes it
easier to slide the pizza onto the hot Stone.
