OFF-ROAD USE
Muffler on rear frame
14 lb/ft (19 Nm)
Position the clamp 1 with recess in lug Ar-
row.
Tighten the nut 2.
Clamp on muffler and exhaust mani-
fold
16 lb/ft (22 Nm)
with M sports muffler
or
with sports muffler
14 lb/ft (19 Nm)
Position the cover 2 and install the
screws 1.
Cover on muffler/exhaust manifold
Tightening sequence: 1. Exhaust manifold,
2. Top muffler, 3. Bottom muffler
4 lb/ft (5 Nm)

RIDING
Riding with lugged tires
The R 1250 GS can be equipped with
lugged tires for off-road use.
The tire pressure can be adjusted ac-
cordingly when you are riding off-road
using studded tires.
To prevent incorrect messages from the on-
board computer, it is recommended that the
RDC is turned off when the tire pressure has
been changed.
Maximum speed with studded or winter
tyres
DANGER
Maximum speed of the motorcycle is
higher than the permissible maximum
rated speed of the tires.
Risk of accident due to tire damage at
high speed.
Observe the maximum permissible
speed for the tyres.
With studded or winter tyres, the maximum
permissible speed for the tyres must be ob-
served.
Attach a label specifying the maximum per-
missible speed in the field of view of the
instrument cluster.
Turning off TPM in off-road mode
with tire pressure monitor (TPM)
Requirement
The tire pressure should be reduced when
riding off-road.
The minimum pressure of the tires can be
freely selected. The minimum pressure
warning can be turned off.
