Setup / initial start-up

1) Clean the appliance as described in the
chapter "Cleaning and Care".
2) Place the appliance on a suitable and level
surface.
3) Insert the plug into a mains power socket.
The appliance is now ready for use.
Grinding coff ee beans
for fi lter coff ee
1) Remove the lid 1 from the motor unit 4.
2) Fill it with the required quantity of coff ee beans.
NOTE
Please do not fi ll the appliance with more
than 36 g of coff ee beans. If you do, the
coff ee beans will not be correctly ground.
36 g is equivalent to around 4 tablespoons
of coff ee beans!
You will require around 6 - 8 g of coff ee
powder for one cup of coff ee. Please observe
the instructions in the coff ee-maker operating
manual.
3) Put the lid 1 on.
4) Press and hold the switch 3 until the coff ee
beans have been ground to your requirements
(around 20 - 30 seconds). The indicator lamp 5
will illuminate for as long as you press the
switch 3.

The coff ee grinding grade is infl uenced by the
quantity of coff ee beans added and the length of
grinding.
The longer you grind the coff ee, the fi ner the coff ee
powder.
Shorter grinding results in coarser coff ee powder.
NOTE
Please observe the information about the
grinding degree in the coff ee-maker operating
manual.
5) Release the switch 3 once the coff ee beans
have been ground to your requirements and
wait until the blade 2 is at a standstill. The
indicator lamp 5 goes out.
6) Take the lid 1 off and disconnect the mains
plug from the power supply.
You can now remove the coff ee powder using
a spoon or similar.
Grinding espresso beans
for espresso
Coff ee powder for espresso always requires very fi ne
grinding. Ensure that you grind the special espresso
beans for an appropriate time (approx. 45 seconds)
when preparing espresso coff ee.
When grinding espresso beans, proceed exactly
as described in chapter "Grinding coff ee beans for
fi lter coff ee", and use the following guide values:
18 g of espresso beans for 2 cups of espresso.
36 g of espresso beans for 4 cups of espresso.
