R1504 Hardware Installation: Step 1. On the rear of the R1504, remove the six screws that secure the unit’s heat sink to the PCB. Step 2. After removing the screws, carefully remove the heat sink from the R1504. Step 3. After removing the casing, carefully turn it over to view the thermal pad.

Step 4. These 4 screws are used to install the NVMe SSDs. The R1504 can support any M.2 form factor (2242, 2260, 2280, and 22110). Step 5. Please remove the screws on the right side of R1504. Step 6. Gently insert the NVMe SSD into the slot. Note: If the NVMe SSDs were used previously, make sure the connectors are clean and free of dust prior to installation.

The following example shows four PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD installed into Port 1, 2, 3 & 4. Port1 Port2 Port3 Port4 Step 8. Reattach the heat sink after installing all of the NVMe SSDs. Step 9. On the rear of the R1504, refasten the 6 screws that were removed in step 1.
