    Hardware Installation Step 1. The R1580B provides four device ports which utilize SFF-8654 connectors. These ports accept a variety of HighPoint Certified Cable Accessories (see the Accessories section towards the end of this guide for more information). The following procedure explains how to connect U.2/U.3 NVMe SSDs directly to the...
  • Page 5 Step 2. The SFF-8654 connector should be inserted into the Rocket 1580B’s device ports. The SFF-8639 connector should be connected to the U.2/U.3 SSDs (two SSDs per cable). The 15-pin SATA power cable should then be connected to the system power supply.
  • Page 6 Step 3. Insert the R1580B into one of the motherboard’s PCIe 4.0 (or 3.0 or 5.0) x16 slot. Step 4. Next, connect the SFF-8654 cable connector to one of the R1580B’s four device ports (Ports 1 through 4)
  • Page 7 Step 5. When the above steps are complete, power on the system. Note1: Please make sure the cables are securely connected to the R1580B’s device ports and the NVMe SSDs or backplane. Loose connections can lead to a variety of problems including instability, slower than expected performance and dropped disks.
