TPMS Overview
Tire pressure monitoring system diagnosis on the TS58R will cover five sections:
1. Basic TPMS Diagnosis Function. Allows wireless reading/scanning of Tire
Pressure Sensors. Providing the Sensor status, ID information, Pressure, Temperature
and Battery Charge Status. Data available may vary based on sensor type.
2. OBD Diagnostic Function. Allows reading/scanning of Tire Pressure Sensor data
through the OBD interface comparing the Tire Sensor ID value to the vehicle's stored ID
value.
3. Sensor Programming Function by OBD. This function uses the OBD interface
to read the Tire Pressure Sensor ID registered on the Vehicle's Computer Board and
programs (stores) it on a new TruSensor Sensor. When this new TruSensor is installed in
the same wheel there is no need to perform the Location Learning function.
4. Sensor Programming Function by Activation. This function is used to activate
the original Sensor in order to retrieve its original Sensor ID. This ID may then be
programmed onto a new TruSensor. When the new TruSensor is installed on the same
wheel as the old Sensor there is no need to perform the Location Learning function.
The original Sensor ID may also be manually input into the new TruSensor through the
TS58R.
5. Location Learning Function. The TS58R is capable of using three different
methods of position learning: Stationary, Automatic, and OBD. On some vehicles the
Re-Learning Function can be completed by driving. See "Learning Process Guide" in
the TS58R on-screen help page.
